Your emergency physician checks your oxygen level, breathing and heart rate. Depending on your symptoms and examination, testing may include an EKG, blood work, chest X-ray, CT or ultrasound to evaluate asthma, infection or another heart or lung problem.
Treatment may include oxygen, inhaled breathing medication or other medication chosen by your physician. We monitor your response, explain your results and follow-up, and arrange hospital transfer when you need admission or a higher level of care.
